CLASS NOTES

1977

Don Pittaway and his wife, Carmel, live in Clemmons, North Carolina.  He practices Reproductive Endocrinology and has been in private practice since 1998.  He is a member of Best Doctors in America (since 1997) and a former Professor and Section Head of Reproductive Endocrinology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Mike Albritton is a radiation oncologist in Springfield, Missouri and has been for eighteen years.  He says he has "no honors or awards but occasional compliments."  His wife, Sybil, is a retired special education teacher.  They have two sons.  Andrew, 21, is a student at Missouri State University in economics and teaching English to foreign-speaking peoples.  He intends to teach English and do mission work in China.  Charles, 19, is a student in Microbiology/biotechnology at Missouri State and may pursue a medical career.

Roger Cadieux is a clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine at Hershey and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.  He is also the Physician Consultant to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.  Dr. Cadieux has participated on the National HCFA Advisory Committee for applying drug use review to the Medicare/Medicaid population, and is an active member of the Therapeutic Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly.  He also serves as an editor, writer and reviewer of geriatric and psychiatric publications.  Dr. Cadieux is a practicing geriatric psychiatrist whose professional focus is the development of consultative and educational programs which enhance the care of the elderly by the many professionals that interact with this group.

Lane Cook is originally a native of Texas but now a transplanted Tennessean for over twenty years.  He is a practicing psychiatrist in Knoxville.  He enjoys seeing adults of all ages including having an active nursing home consultation practice.  While trained in classical psychodynamic psychotherapy before the days of Prozac, he is chiefly a psycho pharmacologist.  With his training in psychotherapy, he blends both together; engaging in the talking as well as the medication cures.  He still sees a few outpatients for intensive weekly psychotherapy.  As one of the first psychiatrists in his area to specialize in adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, he's had the pleasure of serving on boards and giving many public and industry-sponsored talks on this and many other topics.  In addition to his office-based practice, Dr. Cook is the psychiatric consultant to Cornerstone of Recovery, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility and to Douglas Cooperative of Sevierville, a facility for mentally retarded adults.  He also works with nurse practitioners both in his office and at two local nursing homes doing geriatric psychiatry.  He is the current president of the Smoky Mountain chapter of the Tennessee Psychiatric Association.  In his time away from his practice, he enjoys his wife, adolescent daughter and college student son, dabbling in guitar, running two websites and otherwise wasting time out on his ski boat when the weather permits in the shadows of the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee.

Marsha Eigenbrodt is enjoying teaching and doing research as a Cardiovascular Epidemiologist in Little Rock, AR.  She is married to a retired Pathologist and they have two sons.  One is a junior at Texas A&M in Electrical Engineering and one is a lawyer in Dallas, married with two children.

Tom Gulick has been practicing Neurology in Ouachita parish since 1982.  He has several horses and a 1952 pickup truck...not much time for anything else.

David McKowen retired from general surgery in Alabama due to Multiple Sclerosis.

Trey Melker and his wife, Clino, have three children.  Kristy, 36, is a D.A.  Merritt, 26 works with computers and Morgan, 16 is a student.  Trey retired from his OB/GYN practice in 2003.

Huson Middleton and his wife, Kathy, own a multi-specialty group practice called Geriatrics Associates, PC.  There are ten physicians, two PAs and four support staff.  They do full time nursing home medicine in 18 nursing homes.  Kathy and he have two children, Mark and James.  Both are Life Scouts and are active in their church.

Steve Norman retired from full-time practice in 2002.  He now splits his time between autopsies, laboratory management, and growing pecans.  Check out his website www.rosaliepecans.com!

Benny Popwell has been in private practice at The Women's Clinic since 1981.  He is married with three children; one married, one at work in Nashville and one attending LSU.  His hobbies include golf and playing guitar.

Russell Romero and his wife, Carolyn, have two children.  Jason, ('02), has a Dermatology practice in Shreveport and Jordan is a third year med student at LSUHSC New Orleans.

Ramon Rosenkrans and his wife, Jane, have three children.  Chris is a commercial pilot with SkyWest out of Denver.  Brian works for The New York Times in New York.  And Alicia is in Occupational Therapy School in Houston.

Robert Salley is currently in private practice of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was a member of the faculty at University of Kentucky School of Medicine from 1988-1996, the Chief of the Section of Congenital Heart Surgery at UK from 1988-1996 and Chief of Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UK from 1990-1006.  He is currently the Chief of Cardiac Surgery at St. Joseph Heart Institute in Lexington.

Ronnie Warner and his wife, Bonnie, have been married for 30 years.  They have three children.  Ronnie has been in private practice in Memphis in the same group for the past 25 years.

Barney Witherington was Board Certified in 1980 and then recertified in 2006 in Internal Medicine.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Physicians Board of Governors in Tennessee.  He has been in private practice since 1980.  He is married to the same wife, Ann, for 37 years and they have three children, one grandchild and another "en route."

1987

Gene Brierre is in private practice in Lafayette, LA.  He has two great sons, Joe and Will, 16 and 14.

Jimmy Brooks and his wife, Anne Marie, have three children.  Meghan (19) is a freshman at Auburn University, Drew (17) is a junior in high school, and Libby (7) is in first grade.  He is the past president of Muscogee County Medical Society and Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, Chairman of Mission Columbus Medical Clinic and a member of the United Way Board of Directors.

Curt Chastain is a fellow with the American College of Physicians and the President of Lake Primary Care Physicians Network.  He and his wife, Chanel, have four children, Kati, Curtis, Ansley and Julianne.  He also plays guitar and is the lead singer in a rock band.

Ben Close and his wife, Mimi, have three children, Victoria (Tori), 17, Kyle, 15, and Jackson, 13.

Bryan Demarie practices general Internal Medicine with five other providers as part of a 100 physician group.  He is an active board member with the clinic and hospital.  He enjoys his family of 6 siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.  He and his partner of 12 years, Jody Sarreal, look forward to a life together enjoying family, travel, and laughing.   Jody is a landscape architect and real estate agent and also works with a Design Showroom in the Dallas Design Center.  They have a 12 year old Lab named Jackson.

Danny Fontenot and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Spencer, 17 and Hayden, 3.

Donna Fox is very busy raising two active sons that are both now in high school.  She practices part-time in three locations to accommodate her busy home schedule.

Tom Gaddis is a medical Oncologist practicing in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.  He and his wife Jill have two children, Danielle and Patrick.

Richard Harrell practices Orthopaedic Surgery in Bossier City.  He and his wife, Yevette, have three children and all live in Benton where they raise horses, goats, pigs and lots of weeds.

Nita Harris moved to Colorado Springs four years ago for the lifestyle and absolutely loves it!  She and her husband, Bradley, have a seven year old son, Aidan.  They all love downhill skiing, hiking, camping and cycling.

Ted Lennard and his wife, Suzanne, have four daughters, Selby, 13, Claire, 11, Julia, 9, and Maura, 6.

Elwyn Lyles and his wife, Angel, have four children, Leslie, Lauren, Lynden and Laine.  He is on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Gastroenterology and a founder of the Gut Club of CENLA.

Melanie Mattson has been in Winchester, Virginia practicing in a busy Cardiology practice since 1994.  She has three fantastic children - Joshua, Christopher, and Elizabeth.

Keith Mayfield is a private practice Anesthesiologist with Willis Knighton Pierremont.

Carey Robinson and his wife, Paula, are celebrating their 24th wedding anniversary.  They have four kids.  Anne-Marie is 21 and a senior at Messiah College.  Tommy is 19 and a sophomore at Furman University.  Tyler is 18 and a senior in high school and Emily is 15 and a sophomore in high school.  Carey was recently voted the Roanoke Valley's best Ophthalmologist by Health Care workers in the area.

Kathleen Rosson is the assistant program director of the Family Medicine Program at UMC Lafayette.  Her husband, Jody ('89), is a Pulmonologist and Critical Care Intensivist in Lafayette.  They have four children ages eight through 14.

Dave Sampognaro and his wife, Renée, have two daughters, Claire Ariana, 11, and Emily Alyssa, 9.  They have been married since April 1994.

Keith Smith and his wife, Lisa Jones (‘88), have two children, Katie (13) and Sarah (9).  He is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of North Carolina Medical School.  He is the Residency Program Director for Diagnostic Radiology.

Sharon Stein completed her Residency at UTMB Galveston in '91.  She did a fellowship at USC from '91 - '92, and was on the faculty at USC Keck School of Medicine from 1992 - 2002. She and her husband, Max Caber, then relocated to Northern California.  They have three children, Sam, 13, Alex, 11, and Megan, six.

Maureen Swisher and her husband, Mason, have two children, Kelly, 12, and Ross, 9.  They now live in Quincy, Illinois after travelling all around the nation for Mason's job as a college football coach.  They started in Shreveport where Maureen worked here at LSUHSC as an associate professor in Family Practice then Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  They then moved to Quincy where she worked with pediatricians, then to Huntsville, TX where she worked with Family Practitioners, then to Dallas where she was a solo practitioner and finally back to Quincy where she works at a hospital-based Urgent Care.

Steve Vidrine and his wife, Renee, have four children.  Ryan is 22 and attends St. John's University in Minnesota, Jake is 19 and attends LSU-Eunice, Lyndi is 17 and at Sacred Heart High School and Dylan is 5 and goes to Sacred Heart Elementary.

Scott Zentner and his wife, Maggie, have two children, Mac, 14, and Margaret Ann, 10.  He has been in his hometown, Monroe, for fifteen years practicing Psychiatry.  He is currently employed as a medical director with the Office of Mental Health.  He is also a clinical Associate Professor with LSUHSC Shreveport and Monroe campuses.

1988

Vernon Rhynes and his wife, Susan Futayyeh  have two children, Summer, 12, and Erin, 10.  His practice specializes in minimally invasive surgery.

Bubba Russell and his wife, Laurie, have two children.  Britni Danielle was born 10/17/85 and Robert Brandon was born 1/21/90.  He is in a group practice of OB/GYNs since finishing residency in 92 with an interest in advanced laparoscopic procedures.  He enjoys golf and tennis.

1992

Melissa Palazzo She and her husband, Dr. Tony Palazzo, have two daughters, Alexandra Christine Palazzo, born October 15, 1997, and Gianna Valentine Palazzo, born July 10, 2001.

1997

Jason Adams completed his U.S. Air Force commitment in June 2005 and was honorably discharged after eight years of distinguished active duty service.  He and his family moved to Gonzales where he started his solo private practice, Ascension Center for Women's Health, LLC.  He and his wife, Andrea, have three sons, Hayden, 10, Trevor, 9, and Connor, 5.  The family "hobbies" include traveling, following LSU athletics and participating in just about every youth sport you can imagine.

Sharye Atchison and her husband, Steven (1991), have four healthy children.  In 2006, Sharye endured a battle with cancer.  She is cancer free now and back at work.

Bill Baird and his wife, Rhonda, have two children, Rowan, 9, and Jackson, 4.

Anna-Maria Blake-Toker is married to Steven Toker who is completing his Residency in Anesthesia at Parkland Hospital.  They have two children ages four and two.  She is in private practice in Dallas and is Board certified in General surgery and Colorectal Surgery.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and received awards for Academic Achievement in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Carl Boethel and his wife of ten years, Christy, have three children, Autumn, 6, Colter, 3, and Owen, 1.  They enjoy their life in Temple, TX.

Mack Brister and his wife, Suzanne, have two children, Savannah, 3, and Aaron, 2 months.

Kelly Carlisle has two step-children, Sydney (8) and Ethan (10).  She and her husband, Brian, have one child, born in June.  She practiced solo Med/Peds for five years before going to work as a hospitalist for Glenwood Medical Center in Monroe in 2005.

Kasey Chenevert and her husband, Matt, have three boys, Jacob (11), Joshua (9), and Jordan (5).

Paul Cooper and his wife, Danielle ('00) have a newborn son, Jackson Patrick, born February 27, 2007.  Paul stayed at LSU for Residency and joined the faculty after a year as Chief Resident.  Currently he is the Pediatric Program Director.  Danielle is on staff at LSUHSC in OB/GYN.

Carson Cunningham is married to Lisa Deshotel Cunningham, a Physician Assistant.  He practices General and Bariatric Surgery in Lafayette.

Wes Desselle and his wife had a baby in September!

Pascal Gaudreault and his wife Tara have three children:  Lian, 7, Maura, 5, and Caroline, 3.  They live in Georgetown, TX.  Pascal has a family practice in Taylor, Texas.  He is also the Chief of Staff at Johns Community Hospital.

Robyn and Chris Germany have two daughters, Sarah, 7, and Victoria, 4.  Robyn quit private practice in September 2005 and joined Ochsner Clinic in Family Medicine.  Chris is currently taking some time off from practice to stay home with their girls.

Michael Gibson is married to Anna Clark Gibson, a general surgeon and they live in Wichita, KS.  They have two daughters, four dogs and a cat.

Frere Gremillion and Rachael Tadlock have two children, Melissa (3) and Cameron (1).  Frere completed a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at LSU New Orleans in August 2005.

Monica Haynes is currently in her seventh year of private practice in Pediatrics.  John (1994) and she have four beautiful children, Francie (her step-daughter), 11, Caroline, 6, Patrick, 3, and Nicholas, 2.

Jeff Holt and his wife, Cindy live in Helotes, Texas and he is currently training in Cardiology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center.  He was in private practice in Family Practice for three years prior to this.

Darrell Hutson is currently working as a hospitalist/intensivist at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.  He is married to Lydia and they have two daughters ages four and two.

Aaron Lirette completed his Family Practice Residency in 2000 at Lafayette where he was awarded Chief Resident and Best Teaching Resident.  He then completed a Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at UT Knoxville in 2001.  He is married to Dr. Alicia Byrd Lirette and they have three children, Celeste, 5, Nathan, 4, and Colin, 1.  They have been in Oakdale since 2001.

Wendy Moreland and her husband, Richard, have two girls, ages six and three.

Nathan Morris was a founding member of a six physician family practice in Oxford, Ohio in 2001.  He and his wife, Annie, have four children, Walter, 8, Sam, 4, Ben, 3, and Jesse, 2.

Laura Parnell is currently working with the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge.  Her husband, Eric, is an architect in the State Fire Marshall's office.  They have a son, Kevin, age 4.

John Priddy is an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist in Tyler, Texas.  His son, Daniel, who was born in Shreveport, is now 11;  and Megan, who was born during residency in Memphis is now nine.  Meredith was born in Tyler and is now three.  He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Stacee, and their family.

Trey Rimmer and his wife, Rachel Alexander Rimmer, have five children, Bennett, 13, Sarah, 10, Mary, 8, Beau, 7, and Alex, 6.  He has been practicing surgery in Bay St. Louis since completing Residency in 2003.  They relocated to Shreveport for ten months after Katrina destroyed their home and office in 2005.  They moved back to Bay St. Louis in July of '06 and are helping rebuild the region and have not regretted it!

Jennifer Rodriguez and her husband Louis have two children, Gabriela, 7, and Brian, 3.  Jennifer is working part time with The Cara Center which is a joint venture between LSUHSC and Schumpert Hospital caring for children of abuse and neglect.  She also teaches AWANA to four year olds at Calvary Baptist and is taking karate with her daughter.

Jennifer Singh remained at LSUHSC for Residency and as a faculty member.  She has worked less and less since the birth of her children and recently "retired" completely in order to stay home and raise kids.  She is married to Tejinder Singh, also a physician.

Tom Siskron and his wife, Martha, celebrated their ten year wedding anniversary in June!  They have two sons, Thomas, 7, and Campbell, 6.  Tom finished his Air Force service in Salt Lake City in 2002, returned for the completion of his Urology Residency at LSUHSC in 2002 and is now a Network Physician with Willis Knighton.

David Snow and his wife, Kimberly, have five children, Austin, 13, Luke, 13, Callie, 9, Thad, 6, and Amber, 1.  He is the Chief of Staff at Beacham Memorial Hospital and has a practice at Magnolia Clinic with his wife, who is a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.  He was Chief Resident, has a teaching award in Family Medicine at UMC and is currently a preceptor for students from UMC and Tulane.

Chris Sockrider and Stephanie ('01) live in Shreveport.  They have 4 sons; Benjamin 8, Walker 4, Grant 3, and Henry, 8 months.  Chris practices Breast Surgery in a solo private practice.  Stephanie practices OB-GYN in a group private practice.

Chad Strittmatter and his wife Lorraine, have five children, Xavier (1997), Kolhe (1999), Blaise (2002), Jude (2005) and Amelia (2007).  He is the Associate Residency Program Director and the Director of OB/GYN Ambulatory Care at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.

Sean Strother and Delilah Warrick have two daughters, Aidan, 11, and Brynn, 7.  They live in Washington.  Sean completed his internship at the University of Washington in Internal Medicine/Derm and served as Chief Resident during his last year there.  He opened his own practice, Island Dermatology, in 2001.  He sold the practice in 2003 because it was too much work.  He is now working for Laser Treatment Center (www.kirklandlaser.com) as the medical/surgical dermatologist.  His hobbies include birding, classical guitar and yoga.  Delilah completed her internship/residency at University of Washingon, as well, in Family Practice.  She was hired from residency to work in UW Medicine's primary care clinic located in the suburbs of Issaquah.  She's staying at home with her daughters most of the time now but she fills in for vacations and weekend hours at her office.  Her hobbies include skiing, improving in tennis and hanging out with her gal-pals.

Tim Talbert and his wife of 11 years, Kandi, have three children, Jackson, 7, Zachary, 5, and Caroline, 3.  They have lived in Minden since August 2003 where he has been in a solo practice of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He completed his board certification, ABOS,  in July 2006.  He is also on faculty as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at LSUHSC and does adult reconstruction at the VA Overton Brooks Hospital in Shreveport.

Steen Trawick was in private practice at Highland Clinic in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics for four years after residency.  He is currently an adult and pediatric hospitalist at Christus Schumpert and Sutton Children's Medical Center in Shreveport.  He is very involved in the Shreveport and Louisiana State Medical Societies and is on the Board of Directors for Shreveport Medical Society where he is serving as treasurer.  He is married to the former Ronda Free and they have two beautiful children, Allison Grace, 6 1/2, and Graham, 4.  He still enjoys flying and running and they are often found boating and/or skiing at the lake.

Jim Whiddon and his wife, Cyndra, have three children, Connor, 8, Dylan, 6 and Megan, 4.  He is the Chairman of OB/GYN Department at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, the Department Head of the OB/GYN department at the Wichita Clinic, an OB Executive Member of the Wesley Medical Center, an assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Kansas and recipient of the Resident Rescue Award in 2006.

Steve Wilber and wife, Monica, have three children.  Ben is 5, Josh is 3 and Cate is 2.  He is currently working in private practice in Mobile, AL.

Larrie Williamson works at Brentwood Hospital with several other LSUHSC graduates doing child and adolescent, chemical dependency, geriatric and adult psychiatry.  There are ten psychiatrists working there.  She loves the variety of each of the units she works on.  She has a daughter in medical school here.  Another daughter is in OB/GYN at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.  Larrie also has an eighteen month old granddaughter and another the was due in October.  She doesn't miss an opportunity to play with the Shreveport Symphony when she can (about once a month.)  The balance between these two jobs is perfect.  Sometimes she considers the Symphony playing to be an outlet for work stress as some consider golf to be.  Other times she looks at Psychiatry as a hobby that she does to support herself as a musician!  Anyway, she loves both and is glad she is through with all of the training needed for each!

Nano Zeringue started Accurate Eye Care, LLC in August, 2004 and married Kevin Gros, an architect from New Iberia, on May 19, 2007.

2003

Jeff Leach and his wife, Pamela, have two daughters, Hanna Margaret (born in 5/6/2000) and Juliana Danielle (born in 9/11/2003).

2004

Ashley Saucier will soon complete her pediatric residency and then will begin her a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology.
